  yes, you’re correct. They already collect subscriptions and want to squeeze more.. but if you look at their ads, they “say” the coverage is there on ESPN (but omitting to add that you have to pay additional to subscribe to it). Its a Disney company, after all, so that’s their M.O.

The info on this page is INCORRECT.

ESPN+ Does NOT offer free trial… I suppose this website gets some money anyway from ESPN to pitch ESPN+

Also, ESPN 3 does NOT have the schedule as shown above on EVERY Day…(along with ESPN+)

ESPN is the most worthless company out there… they DO take subscription money EVERY month from us… BUT NOBODY knows how to access ESPN3… According to this website ESPN3 comes on at “7 PM EASTERN”. are they talking about “EASTERN Australia” ? In the US “eastern” means Eastern Standard time.

ESPN at screwed up the TV schedule for Australian open again not happy at all we planned our Monday night around them showing the Australian open starting at 9 extremely upset and very frustrated with ESPN’s coverage!

Lots of chatter about when older players are going to retire. I am living for the day when John McEnroe , the worst display of sportsmanship in the history of tennis, takes his snarly, arrogant self out of the picture of professional tennis. Had his type continued in the sport, we wouldn’t even have the best sport in the world. He’s never had any class and apparently never will. Why don’t we loyal fans rise up and demand he GO?
He couldn’t carry any top ten’s shoes.

So the black screen on Tennis Channel is due to a contract snafu?! (Thanks astute commenter.) Now Spectrum is sending a new cable box since nobody at Tennis Channel or anywhere else told Spectrum. Or at least Spectrum could not bother to show the status. Aiyee.

The man calling the Barty/Sharapova match (Cahill?) is causing me to mute my TV. Granted, this match was full of drama, but he is beyond the pale. He sounds like a parody of a sports announcer. I have listened to him for many years and he has put me over the edge. Does he ever shut up? Enough is enough. Get him off the air please. Honestly.

I’ve looked but can’t find the name of the male Aussie announcer who called the Sharapova match. Can we have some understanding that when you are employed to call a Women’s match you do NOT refer to the players as girls. Not ever unles it is junior tennis.

I would like to know why they have to always bring up maria sharapovas’ suspension? Hasn’t she served her suspension? They don’t bring anybody else’s suspension up. Maybe they need some new announcers?

I see that the majority of these comments are a year to two years old. To those who ask why the schedules are not more suited for US audiences; the live matches take place during our sleepy time, so the diehard tennis fans either miss a lot of sleep and watch, or watch the repeats on Tennis Channel. The rest of the sports viewing world unfortunately is watching Basketball, Hockey, Football playoffs, Curling, pretty much anything other than Tennis right now. Boo hiss to them. As for John McEnroe, the man knows his sport, and what some take as negativity, we from the East Coast know to be his New York honesty and bluntness; a refreshing trait not often seen in today’s world. He calls ’em as he sees ’em.

Why can’t they spell out the players name on the television ?I hate this new system of only three letters it is rude to the player and it is rude to the the fans the viewers please tell Tennis Channel to fix the problem it is the most pathetic insult to put a three letter code instead of the player’s full name.

I appreciate any coverage that ESPN can give us here the the US since they are playing half way around the world. Love to watch the best athletes in the world fight and claw in the summer heat of Australia. So invigorating. Congrats to everyone involved from the players to the ball boys to the commentators. Hope it is a great tournament.

I know John McEnroe is knowledgeable but he is also extremely negative in many of his comments. He is critical in the extreme and seems to relish being able to tear-down the players. I see this sport as the greatest test of endurance possible. The players are modern day gladiators in the ring to please “Caesar”.
Let’s respect how hard they train and how much they sacrifice to be in the running. We get to watch the elite of tennis play matches that may last as long as 5 hours with next to no down time at all. How long could you last on court in the heat of the summer?

Chris Fowler is the best pro, best prepared and has a very good eye for details. I really miss Mary Carrillo who had more background info on players and was also a pro. Maria S needs to be censored for calling her sport ‘ girls’ tennis.

Not sure who controls the crawl at the bottom of tv but anyway of not posting scores on encore matches? I avoid all social media and news to avoid scores.

  I concur. Why do we need 3 in the booth and 1 courtside? Too, too, too much talk. I love hearing the ball contact the court and racquet . I love hearing the crowd. But, gosh almighty, American commentators don’t take a breath. They seem to feel 1 second of silence is dead air! British and Aussie commentators don’t feel the need to fill EVERY second with talk. Their counterparts should take note. I have to turn off the volume to watch without being irritated.

we do not wish to hear continuous commenting during points. Acceptable comments are brief, like: ” goodness gracious- wonderful- bad luck and the like” .

Why can’t you get Tennis Channel to better negotiate with the cable TV providers? We have Frontier Communications and Tennis Channel is blocked due to contract negotiations…unbelievable during the Australian Open…. with the time zone difference, you have to watch the replays.

Finally have had to resort to “mute” while the commentators yak away…..it makes me so upset. Can’t fully enjoy the tennis when you can’t hear the natural noises of the ball and the crowd. So little to enjoy on tv these days and even this gets frustrating.

Are they paid by the word? Geez! Please stop it!

I would like to see better TV scheduling for the Western U.S. Also, I wish the commentator wouldn’t chatter amongst themselves so much when the game is in play. Commenting on points, etc. is OK but not talking about football games while we’re trying to concentrate on the tennis match!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Nadal is way more popular than Raonic. You can always count on a Federer, Nadal, and Williams sisters match to be aired on tv when they’re multiple matches being played because of the huge fan bases they have in the US.

What did we (the tennis viewer) do to deserve the unfair and painful spectacle of John Isner (the big sloth) playing his rendition of competitive tennis. He is the perfect example of a player unable to play more than 2 points above the competition, no matter who. Got to be something more exciting going on, maybe Eugenie Bouchard doing anything!!

Please consider something better. Can’t believe the Mac’s don’t comment on his ineptitude!!
